MABALACAT CITY – The premier business district of this newly converted city has a new barangay captain.

Dr. Oscar Aurelio, a former three-term councilor, won over incumbent Barangay Captain Atlas Morales, a son of Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, in Monday’s barangay elections. Morales, who served for two terms as Dau village chief, was also the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president who automatically sat as a member of the city council.

He lost in his perceived bailiwick Purok Panday Pira which is located within the vicinity of Our Lady of Victory Parish Church but clearly won in Purok Camalig.

Aurelio, a medical doctor by profession, won by 1,693 votes over Morales and was proclaimed winner by the Comelec also on Monday. In a text message, Aurelio thanked his constituents.
