BALANGA CITY – The Commission on Elections in this city said Monday that its office is crowded due to the small space it has but the influx of registrants is manageable after it held previous satellite registrations in various barangays.

City election registrar Melanio Sibayan admitted space accommodation remained their main problem but to remedy the situation, they set-up a long table at the hallway to have room for more people.

He said that satellite registrations conducted in 25 barangays last March that many villagers took advantage of greatly eased the expected long lines of people availing themselves of the rush hours in the last few days.

“We have prepared enough registration forms through the assistance of the city government in anticipation of the coming of more people to catch up with the deadline on October 31,” Sibayan said.

Registrants confirmed that they do not pay any single centavo on registration forms. “Walang gastos at walang sinisingil dito,” they said.

The registrar said they have so far attained a 9.7 percent increase in the number of registrants compared to the same period last June. “We targeted a rise in registration by 12% that we know we can easily get before the set deadline,” he said.
