Ignacio said Comelec Central Luzon Regional Director Atty. Temie P. Lambino has been replaced by Atty. Juanito “Johnny” Icaro who was previously assigned at Region IV-A.
Ignacio said Lambino has been assigned to the National Capital Region (NCR).
Ignacio also said starting January 22, provincial election supervisors will also be reshuffled and by February, it would be the turn of election officers in cities and municipalities.
Ignacio said the reshuffle will affect all Comelec field officers all over the country.
Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez has announced late last year that the poll body will reshuffle its field officers “to avoid the appearance of a cozy relation between election managers and political players.”
He also said “reshuffling is done periodically when elections are near.”
According to Comelec Resolution 9981, or the calendar of activities for the May 9, 2016 elections promulgated last Aug. 18, the election period was designated to last from Jan. 10, 2016 (Sunday) to June 08, 2016 (Wednesday) or 120 days before and 30 days after Election Day.
During the election period, it will be illegal to transfer, move or suspend officers and employees in the civil service as well as bear or transport firearms or other deadly weapons, employ bodyguards or organize reaction forces or strike forces.
During the election period, the PNP is one of the government agencies deputized by the Comelec to secure the polls.
