CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Central Luzon’s Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) went on red alert Monday in anticipation of Typhoon Rosita.

In Tarlac, Genesis Santiago, chief of the local disaster management council, reported yesterday morning that a still unidentified man was killed and another injured after they were hit by an electric post felled by strong winds in San Clemente town.

Office of Civil Defense operations chief Robert Manalo instructed the RDRRMC members particularly those under the Response Cluster to be on duty round the clock at the Operations Center in Camp Olivas.

“Each member-agency has to observe preparedness measures in anticipation of Typhoon Rosita,” Manalo said.

The Department of Health prepositioned medicines and emergency management-related logistics with seven medical teams ready to be deployed in areas to be affected in the region.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, on the other hand, advised local government units to activate their operation centers and submit pre-emptive evacuation reports.

This, even as the Department of Public Works and Highways said its available equipment are ready for deployment.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Information Agency assured the public of close coordination with RDRRMC members for the dissemination of advisories, road closures and announcement of class suspensions among others.

At the same time, uniformed personnel including Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines alerted their disaster response units and prepared their equipment and personnel for deployment anytime.
