CABANATUAN CITY – Vice Presidential front runner Sen. Francis Escudero, lashed back at presidential candidate Mar Roxas for calling him “salingpusa” and comparing Capiz to Sorsogon during a sortie here Friday.

Escudero also warned against Roxas’ attitude towards criticism.

“Narinig ko ang sinabi niya, salingpusa lang daw ako at medyo may pabalang yata at pikon ang tono ng kanyang pagsagot,” Escudero said, noting such manner is improper for one seeking the country’s highest position.

“Ganun din ba siya mapikon kapag may isa sa inyo sa media ang pumuna sa kanya? Kapagka may kababayan tayong pumintas sa kanya,” Escudero asked.

Apparently implying that Roxas’ actions would worsen he wins, Escudero said: “Ngayong wala pa nasa ilalim niya ang sandatahang lakas at ang kapulisan, paano paano pa pag nasa ilalim a niya yun at ganyang init ng ulo ang ipakikita niya.”

There is no place for an onion- skinned president in a democratic country like the Philippines, he stressed.

Escudero said he recognizes the progress of Capiz but this should not be compared with Sorsogon because of their political alliance.

Roxas, he noted, has served three succeeding administrations while he was fighting Malacanang for six years.

The comparison, should there be one, according to the running mate of Sen. Grace Poe is between Roxas’ and Sen. President Farnklin Drilon’s places.
