BOC-NAIA and ARTA conducts Forum on “Ease of Doing Business”

The Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA, in its effort to promote ease of doing business and streamline customs processes, hosted an inter-agency forum with Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Jeremiah Belgica as guest speaker on March 23, 2021 via Zoom.

District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan presented the Port’s Ease of Doing Business Initiatives, which include feedback mechanism analytics, help desks, ARTA compliance of the Port, Customer Care Centers in NAIA, creation of BOC-NAIA One Stop Shop and other initiatives.

ARTA Director General Belgica discussed the overview of Republic Act No. 11032 and the Mandates of the Anti-Red Tape Authority. Director General Belgica emphasized that the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business Act complements the Socio-Economic Agenda of the country to streamline the current systems and processes for a better government service.

In his closing message, Director General Belgica commended the Bureau of Customs for its efforts in pursuing change within the agency, including initiatives on Ease of Doing Business:

“I would also like to congratulate BOC-Port of NAIA for their efforts and accomplishments in Ease of Doing Business. I would also like to point out some impressive initiatives that was presented such as establishment of QR ticketing for documents, enhanced feedback mechanism with analytics, and especially the timely creation of 24/7 One-Stop-Shop for COVID-19 related shipments such as PPEs, test kits, and vaccines during this pandemic”

District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan mentioned that the Bureau of Customs, under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, will remain committed in its mandate to facilitate trade and streamline customs processes in line with the Ease of Doing Business Act, while ensuring the security of the nation’s border and prevention of revenue leakages.

BOC NAIA thanked Director General Belgica for gracing the forum, and recognized ARTA as an integral partner of the Bureau of Customs in pursuing change and in further enhancing government services by consistently promoting Ease of Doing Business.
