BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Provincial Government of Bataan has rolled out rice assistance for 30,257 beneficiaries in the province under the Sagip Saka Program, funded through a P118-million allocation from the expanded Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
The initiative provides 10-kilogram sacks of rice to beneficiaries as part of the national government’s intervention under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., aimed at helping cushion vulnerable sectors from rising food prices.
Priority beneficiaries include persons with disabilities, solo parents, dialysis patients, and other identified vulnerable groups in the province.

Distribution has already reached several municipalities, including Orion, Mariveles, Morong, Orani, and Hermosa, with remaining beneficiaries in other areas expected to receive their rice assistance in the coming days.
Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III said the provincial government continues to implement programs that help ease the burden on families.
“Patuloy po nating isinusulong ang mga programang makatutulong na mapagaan ang pamumuhay ng bawat pamilyang Bataeño (We continue to advance programs that will help improve the quality of life of every Bataeño family),” Garcia said.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, in coordination with local government units, is overseeing the distribution.
Beyond providing immediate relief, the initiative also supports local farmers through direct procurement of agricultural produce, helping create a stable market for their products while ensuring that assistance distributed to communities is sourced from local production.
The program aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen food security and bring government services closer to communities. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
