BALANGA CITY — Flash floods hit six towns and one city in Bataan brought by intermittent moderate to heavy rains triggered by Typhoon Egay on Thursday, July 27.

Mark Rafael Ramos, operations chief of the provincial disaster risk reduction management office, said that flooding started at 3 in the afternoon causing flash floods of from one to two feet deep.

Affected by flood waters were this city and the towns of Orani, Hermosa, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, and Dinalupihan.

He said the portion of the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Cataning, Hermosa was no longer passable. Even portions of the same road in Barangays Calylayan and Capitangan were not passable to light vehicles.

Some families were preemptively evacuated but Ramos could not still release data.

Ramos said they were still waiting for updates from the municipal disaster risk reduction management offices.

Intermittent moderate to heavy rains continued to prevail in Bataan the whole day of Thursday.
