BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority and InfiniVAN Inc. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore digital infrastructure expansion and potential job opportunities in the province.

This MOU explores a terrestrial fiber link in Casiguran town, connecting the ecozone to submarine cable landing points in Northern Luzon, strengthening connectivity and supporting data center and allied industry investments.

APECO President and Chief Executive Officer Gil Taway IV said the partnership will strengthen the ecozone’s capacity as a freeport and generate economic benefits beyond the core facilities.

“While data centers themselves operate with smaller teams, they have multiplier effects on allied industries that support these facilities. This means more jobs, enhanced skills development, and inclusive economic growth for the communities of Aurora,” Taway added.

InfiniVAN Inc., a Philippine subsidiary of Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed IPS, Inc., provides connectivity services to internet service providers and telecom operators, offering more than 20 terabits per second across 10 international submarine cable systems.

The planned link is expected to improve network reliability, extend digital infrastructure, and support backhaul facilities that could attract data centers, internet providers, and related investments.

Meanwhile, officials from the provincial government and all eight municipalities also signed a pledge of support during the ceremony, signaling strong local backing for the initiative.

The expanded connectivity is projected to drive investments in digital services and allied industries, creating jobs, training opportunities, and growth for local suppliers and enterprises

By combining infrastructure development with workforce support, the initiative positions Aurora as a potential hub for innovation, data services, and sustainable economic growth.(CLJD/MAT, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
