REPORTS CIRCULATING in mainstream media carried by journalists and correspondents who cover the Senate beat, and widely shared on social media indicate that Senator Ping Lacson has expressed, at least once, his frustration to the point of considering resignation from the Senate.
We take this seriously, and we feel compelled to speak. At this critical and painful moment in our nation’s history, we, the fellows of the Pampanga Business Circle respectfully appeal to Senator Ping Lacson, please do not leave the Senate of the Philippines.
Senator Ping, many Filipinos continue to look to you as one of the remaining voices of reason, accountability, discipline, and genuine public service within the halls of the Senate. At a time when public trust in government institutions is being severely tested, your presence and your willingness to stand firm, represents a source of hope for countless citizens who still believe that integrity and patriotism must prevail over political survival and personal alliances.
As leaders representing the various sectors of Pampanga, we stand united in our conviction that principled, transparent, and accountable leadership in government is essential to the welfare of every Filipino. We urge you not to step away from the Senate floor at the very moment when the Filipino people need courageous and independent leaders the most. The minority bloc must not be weakened, and the Senate must not be left solely in the hands of those who appear to be acting more in the interest of political power and the protection of allies than in the pursuit of truth, justice, and genuine governance.
We also take this opportunity to express our sincere hope that the members of the minority bloc will remain united, courageous, and steadfast in defending democratic institutions, transparency, and the welfare of the Filipino people. The country needs a strong and credible opposition within the Senate one that is willing to call out wrongdoing, challenge abuses of power, and ensure that no one is above the law regardless of political affiliation or position.
Many Filipinos are gravely concerned about the current direction of Senate leadership and the growing perception that recent political maneuvers are being undertaken primarily to preserve power and shield allies from accountability. There is a prevailing public sentiment that certain actions and decisions are aimed at undermining the impeachment process and setting aside the broader issue of accountability with serious long-term consequences for governance, public trust, and the future of our democracy.
If accountability is compromised at the highest levels of government, the dangerous message sent to future generations is that political power can override truth, responsibility, and moral leadership. That is not the legacy we wish to leave for our children or for the Republic.
Senator Ping, your decades of experience, your courage, your independence, and your willingness to speak against wrongdoing are precisely why so many Filipinos believe your voice remains indispensable in the Senate today.
Your departure would leave a significant void at a moment when the nation is searching for leaders willing to stand firm against political pressure.
Please continue fighting for the Filipino people and for this country. The nation still needs leaders like you. “Dacal Pung Salamat!”
Pampanga Business Circle, 28 May 2026
