ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. and Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the city’s main evacuation center in Barangay Mining on Sept. 22. .
Office for Civil Defense Region 3 director Cesar Idio served as the guest of honor at the event.
The Lazatin brothers were joined by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, councilor Marino Bañola, Department of the Interior and Local Government Angeles City director Darwin David, the mayor’s chief adviser IC Calaguas, the congressman’s chief-of-staff Jannie Sarmiento, executive assistant IV Reina Manuel, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Rudy Simeon.
Dizon to supervise the renovation and improvement of the evacuation center which now has complete and improved facilities including a kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids.
There is also a clinic in the center which has readily available medicines. Aside from the main evacuation center in Mining, the city also has alternate evacuation sites: the covered courts at Capaya, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic, and Anunas.
For his part, Simeon thanked the Lazatin administration for giving priority to the disaster mitigation and preparedness plan of the city in cases of emergencies and natural calamities.
The evacuation center will be managed by the city social welfare and development office headed by Edna Duaso.
