BALANGA CITY — Bishop Ruperto C. Santos of the Diocese of Balanga led in the pray over and blessing of a portion of the accident–prone bypass road in Mariveles, Bataan Sunday.
The bishop made the blessing of the road where three died and six were injured in the tragic accident that happened Oct. 26, 2021 after a mini oil tanker hit two tricycles and crashed into a house in Barangay Baseco, Mariveles.
The three fatalities were a tricycle driver and two passengers.
The Bataan prelate prayed for the eternal repose of the souls of the victims.
“We prayed for their peace with God and eternal rest in Heaven. We commended them to God’s mercy, and imploring His graces and strength to the bereaved families,” Bishop Santos said.
He prayed and blessed the road together with Baseco barangay chair Leonida Valderama, barangay chair Ivan Ricafrente of Poblacion, barangay pastoral council of Immaculate Conception in Sitio Bato-Bato and staff of San Nicholas of Tolentino Church in Mariveles.
“We prayed over and blessed the road that with God’s power and guidance, all those who will pass and use this road will be safe, deliver from all harm, and reach their destinations and homes sound, successful and strong,” the bishop said.
