ANGELES CITY – The Bureau of Local Government Finance-Region 3 has cited the city government led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi Lazatin Jr. as “Top 1” for revenue generation among all cities in Central Luzon in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Three plaques of achievements were presented by the agency to the city for consistently having generated the “Highest Nominal Locally Sourced Revenues.”

In 2019, upon Lazatin’s assumption to the mayoralty, the city government generated P1,635,704,929.07 revenues. In 2020, notwithstanding the Covid-19 pandemic, it collected P1,604,635,856.24. And in 2021, still pandemic period, its collection totaled P1,524,077,468.82.

What makes the city’s sourcing of local revenuers truly outstanding is that aside from the adverse effects of the pandemic it has to deal with, the Lazatin administration set aside any tax increase, maintaining a business-friendly atmosphere.

OIC-Treasurer Jennifer Castro received the BLGF-3 awards on June 22 at the Subic Grand Harbour Hotel, in Subic Freeport from BLGF regional director Divina M. Corpuz.

Corpuz also cited Angeles City as “Top 3” “among all cities in Central Luzon for obtaining a 11 percent year-on-year growth in locally sourced revenues for FY 2019.”

The city government is ranked 6 th in terms of revenue generation at the national level in 2020.

Lazatin lauded the efforts of retired city treasurer Juliet Quinsaat and the city treasurer’s office in ensuring a no-nonsense collection of revenues in the past three years amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Angeles CIO
