ANGELES CITY – “It was an accident.” Thus, said Jay Pelayo, spokesman of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, on the death of the bodyguard of City Councilor Edu Pamintuan, a son of the mayor, Tuesday night.
According to Pelayo, the bodyguard, identified by policeas Alfredo Prin y Sangil, 33, accidentally shot himself while laying with his gun while on duty at the house of the coun-cilor at Jasmine St. Montenegro Estate, in Barangay Sto. Domingo here at around 11:45 p.m.
Tuesday. Prin, a resident of No. 229 Purok-3 Manibaug Libutad, Porac, was a civilian security escort of Councilor Pamintuan. According to the police, a witness identified as Jerome N. Moore, also a civilian security, who was then reporting forduty, asked the victim why he was on his post when he was not on duty at that time. According to Moore, the victim retorted:
“Bakit hindi pa pwede? (Why is it not allowed?).” Moore said he then went on to help his other companion in fixing his motorcycle. Shortly after, he heard a single gunshot and saw Prin lying with blood stains. Prin was declareddead-on-arrival at a hospital with a gunshot wound in his stomach.
