ANGELES CITY — Councilor Jesus “Jay” Sangil strongly urged on Thursday the Angeles Electric Corp. (AEC) to check its system over the “skyrocketing” electric bill of hundreds of residents here.

Sangil, vice chair of the city council on public utilities, said he received several calls and messages and read complaints of the consumers’ electric bills in social media.

One resident from Barangay Agapito del Rosario said:“Mig-post ku pu dakal mag-comment halos makanyan milyari kareng bills da rin from different barangays emu pu keni. Minta ku pu AEC nandin, payment mu pu pwede. No info service. Makananu pung makapag-complain kanyan?

While other consumers simply aired their disbelief and frustrations, “Sobra po, grabe ang tinaas ng bill namin!”

Sangil cited one unoccupied residential house at Hensonville having more than P11,000 on its statement of account even as the general power switch is turned off since March of this year, prior to the lockdown.

According to Sangil, residents from other barangays also complained of having exorbitant bills two to three times higher than their normal invoice.

Sangil said officials of the city’s electric corporation should explain the situation to the public as he urged its officials to check their accounting system and power distribution.
