TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 4,088 newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in the province of Tarlac completed the mandatory training organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in partnership with local government units.
This is a prerequisite prior to assuming office to familiarize them with Republic Act No. 10742 otherwise known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.
In her message, DILG Provincial Director Armi Bactad emphasized the importance of genuine public service in making a positive impact on one’s community.
“When you love, lead, and serve, you make a difference. It’s a gratifying feeling to know that what we do can bring about positive changes in the lives of those we serve, in a meaningful way… love, lead, serve, until you make a difference,” she said.
Topics discussed include Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and its Salient Features, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.
Moreover, the training seeks to foster meaningful youth participation in local governance, instilling values such as patriotism and nationalism. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
