CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag took a “spot in the distinguished list” of “Top Performing City Mayors” in the country in a nationwide appraisal conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).

With a rating of over 86%, Caluag shared fourth place with Jerry Treñas of Iloilo, Ma. Ester Hamor of Sorsogon, and Baste Duterte of Davao.

Topping the list were Joy Belmonte of Quezon City, with 95.73%, and Eric Singson of Candon City, at 94.86%.

In a press statement released recently, the RPMD said the appraisal for city mayors “is anchored on seven fundamental criteria: service delivery, financial acumen, economic progress, leadership governance, environmental conservation, social initiatives, and engagement.”

At the second tier of “distinguished mayors” were Art Robes of San Jose del Monte, Benjamin Magalong of Baguio, and Nikko Mercado of Maasin.

Sharing the third spot were Eric Africa of Lipa, Jonas Cortes of Mandaue, Indy Oaminal of Ozamis, Felipe Antonio Remollo of Dumaguete, Samsam Gullas of Talisay, Bambol Tolentino of Tagaytay, and Ahong Chan of Lapu-Lapu.

Dr. Paul Martinez, RPMD executive director, noted that “these notable distinctions are awarded to the standout public officials from various regions, determined through performance ratings bestowed upon them by their respective constituents.”

The assessment of the city mayors was part of the national “Boses ng Bayan” polling of the RPMD that also included an assessment of the country’s congressional representatives.

Topping the appraisal for members of the House were Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, the president’s son.

Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo shared third spot with Jay-jay Suarez of Quezon, Ralph Recto of Batangas, Joey Salceda of Albay, and Mannix Dalipe of Zamboanga City.

Two other House members from Central Luzon made the list at fourth — Rida Robes of San Jose del Monte and Jay Khonghun of Zambales.

Conducted from June 25 to July 5, the nationwide poll surveyed 10,000 randomly selected registered voters across diverse districts, achieving a ±1% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, reflecting official voting demographic profiles and ensuring data accuracy, RPMD said.
