BALANGA CITY — The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Penelco) said an unscheduled power interruption hit nine towns and one city in Bataan on Saturday, July 1.

Affected were areas in the towns of Limay, Orion, Pilar, Bagac, Morong, Abucay, Samal, Orani and Hermosa, and Balanga City.

“The cause of interruption is the severed conductor between pole Nos. 349 and 350 of the Limay-Balanga 69kV line located along San Vicente, Orion,” Penelco reported in its social media page.

It said corrective works were ongoing to restore power supply to the affected areas, apologizing for the inconveniences caused.

In Samal, lights went out a few minutes past 12 noon of Saturday. Power was restored at 6:10 p.m. of the same day.

With electric fans and television sets off, some women and children in Barangay Sta. Lucia preferred to stay on the terrace of their houses, outside their stores or outside of the barangay hall using different kinds of hand-held fan or pamaypay as tools against the heat.
