CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) will hold a series of provincial public hearings on minimum wage adjustment for workers in private establishments and kasambahays in Central Luzon.
RTWPB Chairperson and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio said the Wage Board received petitions for wage increase for minimum wage earners in the private sector starting February this year.
“The Wage Board has reviewed the petitions and decided to hold public hearings for all provinces to determine the merit of the petitions and to get the sentiments and positions of the workers, employers, and other stakeholders,” Panlilio said.
They are scheduled on April 20 for Pampanga at The Orchid Gardens, City of San Fernando; April 22 for Bulacan at DJ Paradise Resort in Malolos City; April 26 for Bataan at Las Marianas Garden Resort in Abucay; April 27 for Zambales at Royal Park Restaurant in Subic Bay Freeport Zone; May 5 for Aurora at AMCO Beach Resort in Baler; May 11 for Tarlac at Max’s Restaurant in Tarlac City; and May 12 for Nueva Ecija at Harvest Hotel in Cabanatuan City.
Currently, daily minimum wage rates in Central Luzon except Aurora range from P395 to P420 depending on the number of employees and sector, while in Aurora it ranges from P304 to P369.
For kasambahays or domestic workers, the prevailing monthly minimum wage is P4,500 in chartered cities and first class municipalities while P4,000 in other municipalities.
Wage board encourages household employers, domestic workers, homeowners’ associations, private recruitment agencies, and domestic workers’ associations to attend the public hearings for kasambahay.
Other members of the RTWPB include the Regional Directors of National Economic and Development Authority and Department of Trade and Industry as vice chairpersons and two representatives each from the labor and employer sectors. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
