CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — In a move to keep Pres. Aquino’s home province free from labor troubles, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has inked a Voluntary Code of Good Practices (VCGP) with the Tarlac Educational Institution Peace Council (TEIPC) and Tarlac Construction Industry Tripartite Council (TC-ITC).
In a message, DOLE regional director Raymundo Agravante said “the collaborative signing of the VCGP aims to foster a proactive approach in ensuring voluntary compliance with the General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards.”
“The code carries with it a sense of corporate social responsibility in the promotion of good neighbor communication principles allowing healthy competition in the field of labor relations, employee welfare benefits, productivity and competitiveness of manpower in the concerned industries,” he added.
Agravante stressed that “our partnership will ensure that the terms and conditions of employment will be adhered.
Because of this, we will be able to increase productivity, therefore encourage more investors here in Tarlac which in turn would generate more employment opportunities.”
VCGP covers ten areas namely compliance with labor standards, coordination for training and education, recruitment and termination, occupational safety and health, productivity, dispute settlement, legitimate contracting and sub-contracting, social dialogue, collaboration of government partners, and monitoring of the code.
