Drug buy-busts net 5 suspects

CABANATUAN CITY – Five persons were arrested in successive anti-illegal drugs operations in Nueva Ecija on Sunday.

Police identified the suspects identified as Alfie Santos, 39, welder from Barangay San Vicente, Jaen; Virgilio Carreon, 50, jobless, and Remedios Lomibao, 50, both of Barangay Obrero here; Eric Gamboa, 44, construction worker of  Barangay Joson, Carranglan; and Gilbert Simon, 31, jobless from Barangay Bagong Sikat of this city.

Reports reaching Nueva Ecija police director Col. Rhoderick Campo showed Santos was arrested in a buy-bust operation hatched by operatives from Jaen police station and other police units in Barangay San Jose Jaen town at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

Carreon and Lomibao fell in an anti-drug sting by the police provincial drug enforcement unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Talugtog town while Gamboa was arrested at about 10:35 p.m. by operatives from Carranglan police station, and Simon was collared by elements of Palayan City police station in Barangay Santolan, Palayan City at about 11:30 p.m.

A total of 12 sachets of suspected shabu, as well as the marked bills used in the operations were recovered from the suspects, police said.

They were locked in the police custodial facilities facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law.
