BALANGA CITY — A young lady architect from the fast-growing and peaceful town of Samal, Bataan was reelected for a second term as president of the provincial chapter here of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP).

Architect Karl Engelene Elvambuena Poblete took her oath via zoom last June 30 as president of the 200-strong group for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

Also taking their oath in the virtual inauguration  were UAP national officers, executive directors, area vice presidents and chapter presidents in the Philippines and abroad.

With the beginning of the fiscal year, Poblete with executive officers and directors will conduct any time their annual planning session on ventures they will implement.

“We will be holding our 1st general membership meeting for this fiscal year on July 24, 2021. All our members here in the Philippines and abroad are invited to join via zoom online,” she said.

One such endeavor is a possible project for victims of fire in Barangay West Calaguiman in Samal that she said they were coordinating with the local government unit under Mayor Aida Macalinao.

A big fire razed to the ground 15 houses in the area last October 23, 2020.

Her first term during FY 2020 to 2021 was very challenging because of the pandemic but they tried to do corporate social responsibility projects like distributing food to the frontliners on September 7, 2020 as part of their 40th chartering anniversary.

They also did collaboration with other UAP chapters to provide continuing professional development webinars for their members.

Poblete, still single,  took over Architect Ronald Gary Mariano of Orani, Bataan as chapter president. She is a very active member of UAP and became charter secretary for FY 2016 – 2017.  She was elected as vice president for programs and development for FY 2019 – 2020.

The eldest of three children of former overseas Filipino worker Rodrigo Caragay Poblete and the former Lolita Mariano Elvambuena, a rural health midwife, Karl Engelene graduated from the Bataan Peninsula State University main campus on March 2010.

She passed the Architecture Licensure Examination on January 2012.

Karl Engelene presently works as research assistant in a health-related study under the Philippine Primary Care Studies. She is a village volunteer as barangay nutrition scholar in Barangay Sta. Lucia where she resides.

She has plan of pursuing a masters degree in architecture after her term as UAP charter president.
