LIMAY, Bataan — A suspected leader of a criminal group allegedly operating in Bataan and engaged in gunrunning, illegal fishing, illegal logging and extortion was arrested and guns and ammunitions seized in this town Friday.
Limay police chief Major Madtaib M. Jalman said Ricardo dela Torre, 46, of Barangay Lamao, Limay was apprehended during the implementation of a search warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court Presiding Judge Leticia Nicolas.
Confiscated from suspect, the alleged leader of Ricardo Criminal Group, were a converted .22 rifle with six live ammunitions and one .38 revolver with six live ammunitions, Jalman said.
A raiding team composed of the Limay municipal police, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and other units of the provincial police office served the search warrant.
The police chief said the raid was under the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation of the police.
A case for violation of Republic Act 10591, known as the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition act, is being prepared for filing against the suspect, Jalman said.
