CLARK FREEPORT – The former mayor of Angeles City and now the chairman of the board of Clark Development Corp. (CDC) announced he has shunned politics and has no plan to run for any elective position.
“I turned 72 years old in February. I’ve been telling everybody I’m not running for mayor,” said Pamintuan at the Balitaan media forum organized by the Capampangan in Media, Inc. in cooperation with the CDC at the Bale Balita here last Thursday.
“I never have any plan to be here (CDC), even political ambition,” he added but he said he was persuaded by Sen. Bong Go who kept on calling him because President Duterte wanted him in CDC.
“The government machinery will not stop because of Ed Pamintuan,” he said.
“There is Bryan Nepomuceno. Andyan parin si (There is still) Cauguiran, andyan pa rin ang kaibigan kong ambisyoso (there is still my friend who is ambitious),” he quipped.
On his advice to the incumbent Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., he said: “I can only tell Pogi, just concentrate on good governance, gawin lang nya ang maganda wala siyang problema (just do the good thing, he will have no problem). Rendahin nya ang mga konsehal niya (Rein in his councilors).”
“Tapusin niya ang mga proyekto ko tapus na (Finish my projects and that’s it),” he added.
“Huwag na nila akong galitin. Huwag na nila akong isali sa usapan (Don’t get me angry. Don’t include me in their talks),” he said.
Pamintuan added that he has no plan to make an announcement on who to support for mayor of Angeles City in the coming elections in May next year.
