CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Trade and Industry monitored and post-audited a total of 8,458 local establishments in Central Luzon on their compliance to minimum health standards.
DTI regional director Judith P. Angeles said they partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment and local government units in checking the firms’ adherence to the DTI-DOLE Joint Memorandum Circular 20-04 and 20-04A which defines the workplace guidelines to be strictly observed by business establishments to ensure the safety of consumers, workers and other guests in workplaces.
“Of the total number of establishments post-audited from June to December, 3,705 are retail stores while 2,653 are dine-in food establishments, and 1,442 are barbershops and salons,” Angeles disclosed.
There were also 298 logistics service providers inspected and 190 manufacturing firms. Others checked include 67 personal aesthetic care establishments, 38 call centers and related businesses, 27 construction firms, 16 internet cafes, eight gyms and fitness centers, seven pet grooming shops and seventesting and tutorial centers.
Among the provinces, Bulacan had the most number of establishments monitored with 1,803, followed by Nueva Ecija with 1,419, Tarlac-1,340, Pampanga-1,198, Zambales-1,078, Aurora-811, and Bataan-809. —Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu/PIA–3
