MANILA, Philippines  A steady amount of physical activity can help children overcome the unnecessary stress that comes with being at homeand away from their friends for long periods of time. In fact, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is highly recommended for children ages 5-17 to accumulate, at least, 60 minutes of daily physical activity. Especially at this delicate stage in their lives and as the online schoolyear begins, physical activity has become all the more important in children’s overall health and wellbeing that can also lead to school success.

MILO believes that active kids make for better learnersand has remained committed to building champions in sports and in life. As such, together with its long-standing partner sports organizers, they have sponsored a series of online tournaments to help parents keep their kids active and healthy at home; giving them more opportunities to grow holistically and a chance to connect with other like-minded kids.

One example is the MILO-sponsored National Kids Athletics Games Online. Organized by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), this is a 2-wave online competition for kids up to 14 years old. The task is to record themselves completing a series offundamental run, throw, and jump exercises within a specified time limit. How to properly executes these moves will be shown in demo videos led by national team members and SEAG gold medalists, such as Aries Toledo, Willie Morrison, Kristina Knott, and 2019 National MILO Marathon Queen Christine Hallasgo.

On top of getting quality guidance from star athletes and being named their age group champion, winners will also earn a spot in the Kids Athletics National Games next year. The competition is ongoing and free registration is still open for children interested in participating. To know more details, parents must visit the PATAFA website (www.philathletics.org).

Next year, parents and kids can also look forward tojoining the Bida Best Freestyle online contest. Organized by the the Basketball Efficiency & Scientific Training (BEST) Center and sponsored by MILO, this virtual event challenges young, aspiring athletes to showcase their basketball skills and creativity. Here, participants will be tasked to create video presentations of them performing ballhandling drills, featuring the BEST 14 taught in the camps and some of their own creation. BEST Center graduates and current particiapants are eligible to join, and can choose between 13U or U18 categories. Those intetested are encouraged to visit the official MILOÒ Philippines(https://www.facebook.com/milo.ph/) and BEST Center Sports Inc.(https://www.facebook.com/BESTCENTERSPORTS/) Facebook pages to stay updated on the final details.
