ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. and the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporationordered the shutdown of the Casino Filipino Angeles today, July 17, 2020, after three of its workers tested positive for Covid-19.
The closure is necessary for the immediate contact tracing and disinfection protocol within the casino’s premises ordered by Lazatin to contain spread of the disease.
According to Dr. Verona Guevarra, city health officer-in-charge, the said patients are currently admitted in different hospitals.
All persons who had close contact with the patients were taken to the City College of Angeles by the Angeles City disaster risk reduction and management office for mandatory quarantine and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing or swab testing, Lazatin said.
Lazatin is also appealing to his constituents to follow the safety regulations set by the city government.
He is also asking Angeleños to just stay home and refrain from traveling to Covid–hit areas when not essential, as most of the Covid-19 patients recorded in the city had travel exposure in Metro Manila.
“Hindi po ito panahon ng pagpunta sa mga handaan o pagta-travel kung saan-saan. May Covid pa rin po. Kaya pakiusap po, sumunod tayo sa regulasyon ng pamahalaan para sa kaligtasan ng lahat,” Lazatin added.
At the time of writing, out of more than 170,000 households in the city, there are 42 confirmed cases of Covid–9 with 11 active cases, 27 recoveries, and fourdeaths.
“Wearing of face mask is a must, and always observe social distancing when you’re outside of your homes for essential needs and work,” Lazatin urged.
