4 ‘rebels’ surrender

CABANATUAN CITY – Four alleged members of the communist-led New People’s Army voluntarily returned to the government fold in separate places in Nueva Ecija on Wednesday, police said.

Reports reaching the office of Col. Leon Victor Rosete, provincial police director, showed two surrendered to combined military and police forces in San Jose City at about 1 p.m. 

Both males from Lupao town, the surrenderees were a 34-year-old fighting under the Arcadio Peralta Command operating in Nueva Ecija, and a 52-year-old driver whose area of operation included Pangasinan and Aurora, police said.

At about 2:30 p.m., police and military units also facilitated the surrender of a 19-year-old alleged youth organizer who is reportedly an Anakbayan member from Caloocan City, and 23-year-old “designated medic, assistant gunner”  of Platoon Dos, Kumiteng Larangang GerilyaSierra Madre in Gabaldon, police reported 

No firearms were turned over by the surrenderees who have been placed under police custody.
