Soldiers, civilians bleed amid battle vs Covid-19

SAN JOSE CITY
– Soldiers shed blood with civilians in an activity aimed at buffering blood stock amid the coronavirus disease pandemic at the municipal gym of Licab, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday.

The soldiers from the Alpha Company, 84th Infantry “Victorious” Battalion under 1Lt. Arnold Quoñon joined the blood donation drive of the local government of Licab led by Mayor Eufemia Domingo.

The town’s inter-agency task force, which pressed for the bloodletting amid the emerging need of ample blood supply in connection with the battle against Covid-19, made sure, however, that proper health protocols such as social distancing were observed.

Dr. Benjamin Maximo, Licab municipal health officer, said  68 bags of blood from donors were collected or a total of 34,000cc. 

Mayor Domingo expressed her gratitude to the 84IB, 7ID for the successful conduct of the activity. She added that the LGU of Licab, together with the municipal inter-agency task force will continue to formulate and realize programs which will be highly beneficial to the populace.

Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr., 7ID commander, emphasized: “Blood donation initiatives are vital in order to help save fellow Filipinos in need. It is one way of showing the spirit of Filipino brotherhood most especially during the time of a global pandemic.
