MABALACAT CITY — The Pampanga Electric Cooperative II (Pelco 2) will hand out coupons as subsidies to its consumers belonging to the vulnerable sector through its Pantawid Liwanag Program (PLP) as announced through its official Facebook page on Monday.
Based on the guidelines released by the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. (Philreca) to its electric cooperatives under Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, Pelco 2 will give coupon subsidies to its residential lifeline consumers consuming 0-50kwh.
The beneficiaries will receive a PLP coupon to be given by the meter readers on the May 2020 billing cycle and should be handed to the tellers during the payment to be able to apply the corresponding discount.
Based on its infographics, the PLP system varies from each electric cooperative based on its capacity and circumstances to provide subsidies to its consumers as the amount of the subsidy is equivalent to the amount of the electric bill qualified in the month of March. The coupon will be automatically discounted in the May 2020 billing cycle.
Pelco 2 also said that the funds that will be used for its PLP is in accordance with its financial status for the 0-50 kilowatt hour threshold consumption as well as from the canceled programs such as the annual general membership assembly, district elections, and others. Pelco 2 employees likewise sourced their assistance from their Employees Cooperative Association.
