TARLAC CITY — About 520 students in far-flung communities in Sta. Ignacia town benefitted from the gift giving activity of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion (3rd MIB) in partnership with Jelexie Bread King Corporation.
Students of Calipayan Elementary School and Timmaguab Elementary School received bread packs and slippers.
“This convergence effort with the private sector is in line with Executive Order No.70 or the Whole-of-nation approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict,” 3rd MIB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Norberto P. Aromin Jr said.
Aside from gift giving, there was a film showing focused on inculcating to the youth the spirit of Bayanihan and make them aware of the deceitful tactics and exploitation of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
3rd MIB also encouraged parents and teachers to play their role in actively protecting the youth from the influence of the CPP-NPA.
“We have always been a partner in alleviating the welfare of the indigents by bringing basic services jointly with partner stakeholders, and in educating the youth about the ills of communism,” Aromin added.
For this part, 7th Infantry Division Commander Major General Lenard T. Agustin lauded the effort of 3rd MIB and thanked Jelexie Bread King Corporation whose owner is a member of the division’s Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB).
“Our MSAB is made up of well-respected civilians from the different sectors of the community and functions as an advisory group for the Command,” he disclosed. – PIA 3
