Three days after his first inauguration, Mabalacat Mayor Cris Garbo has made good his promise to improve on the services he first started two years ago.
Garbo and newly-sworn in Vice Mayor Geld Aquino led the distribution of 100 laptops to public school teachers as part of the netbook acquisition program. The package also included DVD writers and backpacks.
In distributing the laptops, Garbo urged the teachers to serve as role models for students in hurdling challenges in life.
“Be an example. Always motivate your students, sometimes tell them your life’s struggles. Ning kayi mas masanting pa itang si share mu ing struggles mu king bie a pigatagumpayan mu. You motivate them through your experiences,” Garbo said.
The distribution of laptops came days after Garbo delivered his inaugural address. Last Sunday, Garbo pledged to improve on services, particularly in healthcare and education.
In his speech, Garbo said: We will not stop in providing our modern day heroes, deng pung kekatamung teachers, with the necessary tools and gadgets that can help them shape minds and mould our youth’s characters. “
Dr. Ma. Irelyn Tamayo, Schools Superintendent of DepEd Mabalacat Division, expressed her gratitude and urged the teachers to take care of the said equipment and use them for their virtual learning activities so that our learners will be more equipped in terms of the competencies of the K-12 curriculum.
“Again our gratitude to MCG, to SEF (Special Education Funds) and may we continue to pray for the success of the government of Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and Vice Mayor Geld Aquino,” Tamayo said.
Last year, the Garbo Administrayion issued a total of 1,317 brand new laptops in two batches.
The distribution was hailed by netizens.
