Intrapreneurship congress fights global crisis

    MABALACAT, Pamp. – “The congress is a lethal weapon against poverty and global economic slowdown.” 

    Thus said yesterday George Sorio, senior executive vice president of Cyber City Teleservices Philippines (CCTP), as his firm recently led the  national congress of the Philippine Council of Students in Intrapreneurship (PCSI) at the Xevera Housing project here.

    The head of the leading business process outsourcing (BPO) firm at the Clark Freeport have stressed the need for the  2009 PCSI National Intrapreneurship Congress to combat the economic crisis. 

    “It is cognizant of the need to wage war against unemployment and the urgent need to resuscitate our ailing economy,” said Sorio.

    Dubbed as “Intrapreneurship Strategies In Times of Crisis,” the congress was attended by some members of the more than 200 colleges and universities in the country. PCSI is a universally based student organization with international affiliations in more than 20 countries.

    “The giant Microsoft business of Bill Gates just started as a small business in a garage. We might help some people achieve their big dreams via the PCSI,” said Sorio, who gave the opening statement at the  congress.

    Dr. Robert Galindez, president of the PCSI, also expressed optimism over the national congress to help uplift the economy. He formally opened the congress at the housing project owned by real estate mogul Delfin Lee.

    He disclosed that the next Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) World Cup will be held in Brazil in September. The winner of in the national meet will represent the country in the SAGE international meet.

    Almerita Leung, chief operating officer of CCTP, welcomed  student-delegates from different regions in Luzon. Ramon Ricardo Roque, who was the guest speaker.
