CABANATUAN CITY โ€“ Three persons were killed in separate police operations in Nueva Ecija within a 24-hour period.

Two of the fatalities were Ryan Puyat and Rico Medina, alias Balot.

They were killed in separate buy-bust operations that turned bloody in Palayan City and Gen. Natividad town while the third fatality was a suspected thief who allegedly had just stolen a motorcycle in Gapan City.

Police said Puyat who was included in the drug watch list of this city was subject of a buy-bust operation that was conducted by the Palayan City police station in Barangay Barangay Santolan at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

He allegedly fired a .38 revolver at police operatives, prompting them to retaliate which resulted to his death.

Senior Insp. Ronnie Caagbay, chief of the Gen. Natividad Police station, said Medina, reportedly a drug personality in the list of San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, yielded four sachets of shabu, .38 revolver, and a mobile phone among others.

Medina died instantly after allegedly engaging anti-drugs operatives in a shoot-out in Barangay Talabutab Norte at around 4:40 a.m., according to Caagbay.

In Gapan town, police have yet to establish the identity of a suspected thief who supposedly fired at operatives in a dragnet operation in response to a motornapping incident in Barangay St. Cristo at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Supt. Criselda de Guzman, Gapan City police chief, said lawmen flagged down the suspect with an unidentified accomplice but the back rider fired at lawmen instead. The suspect was hit by responding policeman while his companion eluded arrest, police said.
