BALANGA CITY – Re-electionist Gov. Albert Garcia and his two brothers and one sister have filed their certificates of candidacy for the May 13, 2019 elections, records at the provincial election supervisor here showed Thursday.

The governor’s brothers Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia and 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III and sister Dinalupihan Mayor Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia are all seeking reelection.

The governor has an opponent to the post after Severino Samonte of the Partido Federalismo ng Pilipinas (PFP) filed his CoC on Wednesday, the last day of filing.

Reports reaching the office of the provincial election supervisor showed that a woman candidate for mayor of Dinalupihan filed her CoC.

Of the siblings, Francis and Joet are running unopposed.

Their first cousin, incumbent Vice-Gov. Maria Kristina Garcia, has also no opponent.

Re-electionist 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman is opposed by former Dinalupihan councilor Emelita Lubag of PFP.

Garcia’s group is running under the National Unity Party (NUP).

For the five-member sangguniang panlalawigan posts in each district, there are nine candidates in the first district and seven in the second district.

“No report of incidents in municipalities. Matahimik ang filing ng CoC,” said lawyer Gilbert Almario, provincial election supervisor.

“Napakatahimik, organisado.” This was how Balanga City election supervisor Melanio Sibayan described the filing of the CoC up to the last day on Wednesday.
