MALOLOS CITY—A Bulacan provincial board member was taken for questioning following the shooting incident inside the house of former Quezon City Rep. Nannete Daza on Friday night.

The incident left Daza’s long time boyfriend Noel Orate Sr., dead.

Based on radio reports, police said that Orate, 52, a district manager of United Laboratories, died on the spot after being shot five times inside Daza’s home in Barangay Teachers Village East in Quezon City.

Police said they responded to a call of a resident about a heated argument inside Daza’s house after 10 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival they found Orate’s body lifeless.

Taken into custody was Bulacan Board Member Romeo Allan Robes, the husband of Councilor Jessica Daza, daughter of the former congresswoman.

A first cousin of Rep. Arthur Robes of the Lone District of San Jose Del Monte City in Bulacan, Board Member Robes did not resist arrest and was brought to Camp. Karingal.

The board member also worked as one of Rep. Robes assistant in Congress during the lawmaker’s first term.
News of Robe’s involvement in the shooting incident shocked many Bulakenyos especially his fellow members of the Provincial Board.

Ramon Posadas who is representing the second district of Bulacan in the provincial board said Robes must cooperate with law enforcement authorities.

Posadas added that he know Robes as a peaceful man.

For his part, former Board Member Vicente Cruz advised Robes to secure the services of a lawyer; while Bro. Martin Francisco of the San Jose Del Monte City-based Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society said Robes’ friends must refrain from influencing the case.
