1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman and Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia acted as special sponsors to the couples in addition to their regular sponsors at the wedding officiated by Samal Mayor Gene dela Fuente.
Most of the pairs have been living- in together for years and have children. Some of the brides were in white gowns and the grooms in barong but most preferred simple working clothes.
After the mayor declared the couples legally married, they planted a kiss on each other’s lips, some still shy.
“Hindi ito madali na parang kaning isusubo na kapag napaso, iluluwa. Hanggang maging senior citizen, doon matutuklasan ang ugali ng bawat isa. Importante malaman ng bawat isa kung ano magpapasaya sa isa’t-isa,” dela Fuente told the newly-weds.
She advised them to let each other feel their love even through simple ways like sending a text or message of love.
“Maraming pagsubok na madadama pero hindi ito dahilan upang huminto ang buhay. We have to welcome trials, ito ang nagpapalakas ng loob sa atin para lumaban sa buhay,” dela Fuente said.
