Declared as winner for city mayor in the May 9 elections was political neophyte Francis Garcia who although without opponent garnered 44,649 votes in 99 polling precincts of the city.
Balanga has 65,000 registered voters in 25 barangay.
Francis, former director of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, is considered an expert in stock exchange and a business analyst.
“We look forward to working with you in the next three years,” he told department heads of cityhall.
Francis becomes the first unopposed candidate for mayor of Balanga. He will replace brother, Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III who is also without opponent as congressman of Bataan’s second district.
Also unopposed is another brother, re-electionist Gov. Albert Garcia, sister re-electionist Dinalupihan town Mayor Gila Garcia and father second district Congressman Enrique Garcia as vice-governor. Proclaimed with the mayor-elect were his vice-mayor and 10 SP members, all belonging to his ticket.
Bianca Gozon, former city councilor who also ran unopposed, becomes the new city vice-mayor.
Elected as city councilors or SP members were Noel Valdecanas, Jet Nisay, Vic Baluyot, Elmo Sanchez, Hubert Pizarro, Carl Paguio, Jay Panganiban, Carding Magpantay, Tony Tranate and Benjie Merino.
