CLARK FREEPORT— Where land is capital, as in this freeport zone with over 4,000 hectares of mixeduse space, the precision and integrity of geodetic engineers is most essential to shape investment and sustain its growth as Central Luzon’s economic hub.

“What is now the foundation of the economic development here [in Clark]? It is the work of the geodetic engineers… I hope you realize this big role, this vital role that you have in every place and in the country,” noted Clark Development Corp. president and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera before 245 delegates at the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (GEP) Regional Division III’s Annual Regional Convention on February 13 at Royce Hotel.

“You are not just a profession consisting of technical people. You carry with you the instrument to put peace and order and promote good relations among families, among neighbors, even in communities, and in LGUs. Napakalaking bagay po ng profession ninyo,” Devanadera said.

She stressed that accurate surveys prevent disputes, sustain peace, and drive economic growth.

“In metes and bounds, you settle conflicts. In metes and bounds, you cannot argue because this is exact science. And that’s where technology should come in,” she said.

The CDC chief urged practitioners to embrace technology, including AI, digital tools, and the Internet of Things. She reminded them that human judgment and professional integrity remain irreplaceable.

“Your surveys may be approved by regulators, but credibility rests on your integrity,” she said.

The convention, themed “Advancing Geodetic Excellence through Innovation and Integrity,” was led by GEP R3 regional president Engr. James Dexter Grageda and Pampanga Chapter president Engr. Joseph Raymund Bernas.

The Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. is the official national organization of licensed geodetic engineers, committed to promoting excellence, integrity, and innovation in geospatial science and land surveying. CDC-PR
