HERMOSA, Bataan- Twenty-seven families became new landowners after they received Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) on 10.2 hectares of land in Barangay Bacong here  over the weekend.

“Nasisiyahan ako sapagka’t habang buhay pa ang kanilang ninuno ay naiayos na ang lupa,” said former Bases Conversion Development Authority chairman Felicito Payumo.

Payumo represented heirs of his father, the late Dinalupihan Mayor Jose Payumo, Sr., who executed voluntary transfer of the land planted to rice and fruit trees.

With him in the visit to the village were his son Tonito and nephews Dinalupihan Mayor Joel Payumo and provincial Board Member Jojo Payumo.

“Kahit isang sentimo ay wala silang ibinayad sa amin at ngayon ay pag-aari na nila ang lupa at pinatayuan na nila ng mga bahay,” the newly-resigned BCDA chair said.

Sevilla Gigante, 80, profusely thanked the Payumo family for giving them the land. “Maraming salamat po dahil ngayon ang may-ari ng lupa ay hindi lamang kami kundi pati na ang aking mga apo at apo sa tuhod,” she said.

The old woman is the only living patriarch of the Gigante family to whom the landownership was promised.

“Buong puso kaming nagpapasalamat at nagagalak sa kabutihan ng mga Payumo,” said 77-year-old Orlando Icban. He got a share of one hectare of land.

Years ago, the Payumo family also donated more than 17 hectares of land, now Barangay JC Payumo in Dinalupihan, Bataan.
