Partnership aims to empower entrepreneurs with reliable connectivity, smart digital tools, and inclusive access to AI innovation to ensure that no one is left behind.

Pasig City, Philippines, 18 November 2025 — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Converge SME Business Group today formalized a strategic partnership aimed at empowering the country’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with the essential knowledge, smart digital tools, and reliable connectivity needed to thrive in an increasingly digital and AI-driven economy.

Among the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is the establishment of the DTI AI and Start-up Center at the DTI building in Makati, which will feature advanced technologies and enhanced AI tools and capabilities.

The center will be open to aspiring entrepreneurs in the MSME segment, allowing them to explore some of the most advanced technological solutions they need to navigate the highly competitive economy. With enhanced access to fast, reliable, and affordable fiber connectivity, small businesses can now digitize their operations, expand their online presence, and reach broader markets.

The country’s MSME sector has long been recognized as a driving force of the Philippine economy, comprising 99.5% of all businesses in the country and serving as a key provider of employment.

“MSMEs are the lifeblood of our economy, but many still face barriers to digital adoption,” said DTI Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista. “Through this partnership with Converge SME, we are bridging that gap to ensure that Filipino entrepreneurs, regardless of location or size are equipped to thrive in a technology-driven world.”

Under the MOU, Converge SME Business Group will work hand-in-hand with the DTI to assist MSMEs so they can fully realize new opportunities and embrace the transition to doing business in this digital age. These include capacity-building programs, digital onboarding support, and access to Converge’s suite of MSME connectivity and productivity services.

“At Converge, our purpose has always been to leave no one behind, a philosophy espoused by our Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Dennis Anthony Uy, throughout the country’s digital transformation journey,” explained Mr. Dindo Marzan, Senior Vice President and Head of Converge SME Business Group. “This collaboration with DTI allows us to extend that mission to the very heart of our economy by empowering our MSMEs with the tools and technology to compete, grow, and innovate.”

The partnership also aligns with Converge’s broader thrust to build inclusive digital infrastructure across the archipelago, benefiting the unserved and underserved members of society. With its extensive fiber footprint now covering millions of households and enterprises nationwide, Converge is uniquely positioned to help small businesses in both urban and far-flung areas unlock new opportunities through connectivity.

“Digital empowerment is not just about technology – it’s about giving every Filipino entrepreneur the chance to succeed,” added Ms. Angela Gutierrez, Vice President and Head of Marketing for Converge SME Business Group. “We’re proud to stand alongside the DTI in this national effort to create a more connected, competitive, and future-ready MSME sector.”

Converge Co-Founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy has consistently emphasized that connectivity is a key enabler of progress, reiterating his commitment and assurance that “no Filipino and no business are left behind” in the country’s digital future.

With this partnership, DTI and Converge reaffirm their dedication to positive innovation and to shaping a future where every MSME, whether a small neighborhood café or a medium-sized enterprise, can grow and thrive in the digital age.
