FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City – Two subcontractors of the mega Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DATRC) in this military camp were arrested Tuesday by the 7th Infantry Division’s (7ID’s) military police for alleged threat on a worker and illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.

In a police report, the suspects were identified as Sarex Base and Zaldy Galicia, both residents of Rodriquez town in Rizal province.

The two were turned over to the operatives of the Palayan City police station for custody and appropriate action at about 2 p.m., hours after they were arrested at the project vicinity, police said.

Police said Base and Galicia were arrested by the MP at about 8 a.m. upon recovery of a .45 pistol and live bullets in a bag owned by Base inside Galicia’s car (TWL 496).

MPs Cpl. Juanito Sambilio and Sgt. Frederick Peronilo conducted an inspection on the car after receiving the complaint of Erickson Botalon, a construction worker from Rizal province, that he was threatened with harm by the suspects, said PO2 Jay Fidel Libres.

The two were sub-contracting the construction of road and drainage of the DARTC Phase 4.

The suspects, detained at the Palayan City police facility facing charges of threat and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, denied charges they threatened Botalan. They would not explain where the gun came from though.

The gun had no documents, police said.
