JAEN, Nueva Ecija – At least 70 pregnant women from this municipality received basic guidance on
breastfeeding and vaccination from the Strong Mom Year 2 project of the Rotary Club of Jaen at the municipal
gym here on July 5.
RC-Jaen president lawyer Lucille Moreno-Austria said they were making a pitch on the health of mothers and
their children beyond economic status.
“Ipinu-promote natin yung Milk Code saka yung breastfeeding kasi ito naman talaga yung unang bitamina ng

Austria, wife of the club’s charter president and municipal Vice Mayor Atty. Sylvester Austria, stressed that
mothers have also to realize that vaccines which prevent diseases of children are readily available for free in
rural health units.
So hindi lang po dahil mahirap ang panahon ngayon o maraming hindi makaka-afford ng gatas kundi talagang
pinakamahalagang regalo na maibibigay natin sa mga sanggol natin, she said.
Besides talk on breastfeeding basics and vaccination validation, the pregnant women were also given blood
testing and blood typing.
They were also given some “buntis and baby essentials,” including vitamins for lactating mothers.
The Rotary Club of Jaen which was established in 2021, she said, aims to promote disease prevention and
treatment, maternal and child care as well as extending assistance to various sectors.
Strong Mom Year 2 is supported by the municipal government of Jaen headed by Mayor Sylvia Austria, Nueva
Ecija Breastfriends, Rotary Club of Cabanatuan City, Rotary Club of Muntinlupa East, Innerwheel Club of
Southern Stars Manila and CityMed Pharma, among others.
First time expectant mother Gemmalyn of Barangay San Josef Nabao said she has gained more confidence on
becoming a better mom to her child.
Ay, napakainam po as a first time mom. Kasi po napakarami pong natutunan, she said.
