BALANGA CITY — The provincial health office here on Friday reported that 85.84 percent of the total population of Bataan have been fully-vaccinated against the coronavirus disease and vaccination continues in different inoculation sites in the province.

The PHO report showed that 597,095 individuals or 85.84% of the target population of 689,786 have received the complete doses. Latest directive of the Department of Health asked for 80% full vaccination of the target population.

The total number of vaccine doses against Covid–19 administered in Bataan reached 1,389,416 or 90.54% of the target population. The total number includes 162,535 booster shots.

Of 629,786 individuals who have been inoculated with the first dose, 76,095 are waiting for the second jab.

“Patuloy pa rin tayong sumunod sa mga health protocols upang maiwasan ang pagkakahawaan sa ating komunidad at bilang pagpapakita ng malasakit sa kapwa. Maraming salamat at ibayong pag-iingat pa rin ang aking tagubilin para sa lahat,” Gov. Albert Garcia said.

Meanwhile, the governor announced that the province began Friday the inoculation of the second booster shot or the fourth dose against Covid-19 for 18 years old and above with immunodeficiency.

Immunocompromised individuals who can avail themselves of the second booster shot are those with immunodeficiency state, HIV, active cancer or malignancy, transplant recipients, undergoing steroid treatment, patients with poor prognosis/bed ridden patients and other conditions of immunodeficiency as certified by a physician, Garcia said.

He said that vaccination for first, second and third dose or first booster shot for adults and pediatric population have been going on.
