ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. announced on June 8, 2021, the monthly P1,000 salary increase of 75 Day Care Workers here.

“Maliit man pong halaga ito, pero ang inyo pong serbisyong ginugol lalo na nitong panahon ng pandemya ay hindi matatawaran,” Lazatin said, greeting them in time for the celebration of the Day Care Workers Week this June 7 to 11.

In his letter addressed to the city’s day care workers, he recalled how the 76 day care workers have spent their time assisting the city government in the distribution of food packages for families in need amid the pandemic.

These day care workers, Lazatin wrote, have been an instrument in making sure that the city government’s services reach even the most far-flung communities, especially when the city government started to conduct household surveys for the COVID-19 vaccination.

City Social Welfare Development Officer Edna Duaso commended this move of Mayor Lazatin, echoing the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of the day care workers.

She also mentioned their relentless work in this most difficult and trying time.

For her part, Alma Sinamban, President of the Angeles City day care workers, thanked the administration of Mayor Lazatin, as well as Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas, in considering and acknowledging the hard work that they do.

“We feel honored to be acknowledged and rewarded for our hard work, just in time for the celebration of Day Care Workers week,” Sinamban said.

“On behalf of the Federation of Angeles City Day Care Workers, we are sincerely grateful for giving us this generous pay increase, and ensuring the facilities of the 76 Day Care centers are taken care of,” she added.

It can be recalled that in January 2021, the city government distributed 76 air conditioning units to the city’s day care centers.

Last March 2020, the city government also distributed 76 electric fan sets to these centers.

As part of the move of Mayor Lazatin to repair, rehabilitate, and accredit day care centers here to protect and promote the best interest of the children availing of their services, 68 out of 76 Day Care centers were accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office III in 2019.

He also allotted P5 million for the repair and renovation of day care centers and classrooms.

“We will continue our mission that no Angeleño children will be left behind in terms of education,” Lazatin vows.
