MEXICO, Pampanga — As part of the continuing efforts of the Provincial Government of Pampanga to further strengthen its peace and order initiatives, tricycle patrol units were handed over to 33 barangays of Candaba in ceremonies held at the provincial motorpool and garage in Barangay San Roque here on July 14.

“Alagaan niyo ang mga tricycle units dahil makakatulong ’yan sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at pagpapatrolya sa buong barangay para maiwasan ang krimen at maging panatag ang kalooban ng bawat Kapampangan,” Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda told the barangay chairmen during the handover attended by Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 3 director Venus F. Rebuldela, Department of the Interior and Local Government –Pampanga director Myra Moral-Soriano, Pampanga Police Provincial Office director Col. Ricardo M. David, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Pampanga Provincial Officer IAV Mark Anthony Viray, and Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque.

Barangay Pulong Palazan chair Noel Crisostomo articulated the collective appreciation of the barangay chairs: “Mas masusuyod po namin ngayon ang pitong sitio. Maraming salamat po sa ibinigay ninyong patrol sa amin.”

With this sixth batch of deliveries, the provincial government has distributed patrol tricycles to 426 barangays across 19 local government units in Pampanga, with a total project allocation of P51.2 million. The remaining barangays in the City of San Fernando, Mabalacat City, and other coastal barangays are set to receive their patrol units as part of the province-wide rollout.

Governor Pineda also urged barangay officials to properly maintain the patrol vehicles to ensure their continued use in crime prevention, emergency response, and the efficient delivery of basic services.

The project supports local livelihood through the active participation of seven Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) that fabricated the sidecars for the patrol tricycles under the joint initiative of the provincial government and the DSWD. The participating SLPAs include AA Side Car Maker SLPA of Magalang, BalangClans Fabricators SLPA of Santo Tomas, Bayung Aslag Fabricators SLPA of Floridablanca and Lubao, Calantas Side Car Builders SLPA of Floridablanca, Mang Titu’s Side Car SLPA of Floridablanca, RPL Metal Fabrication SLPA of Guagua and Santa Rita, and Santa Ana Steel Fabricators SLPA of Santa Ana.

Aside from enhancing the operational capability of barangays, the initiative provides sustainable livelihood opportunities for local fabricators by generating employment, strengthening technical skills, and creating additional sources of income—demonstrating the provincial government’s commitment to both community safety and inclusive economic development.
