CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In a massacre considered to be the first in Candaba, Pampanga, three siblings were hacked and killed while two younger members of their family struggled for their lives.

The suspect, who the police identified only as Rodel, has fled the scene of the 4 a.m. cold-blooded murder in Barangay Pasig.

Barangay officials at 5 p.m. found the Labsan siblings Sorato, 28; Ariel, 19; and Jaramie, 14 dead in their home in Sitio Tambak Nawasa near the town proper, Supt. Wilson Santos said.

Their younger kin—Jaide, 13 and Jaime, 14—were rushed to the Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital here due to injuries on the head.

By 2 p.m., Jaide has been transferred in a ward. Jaime is due to undergo an operation for more serious wounds on the head.

Rodel used an axe and a 12-inch knife, Santos said, citing initial findings of investigators. The suspect is a native of Bicol.

The victims’ father, 60-year-old Jaime Sr., was asleep in his room when the crime took place.

He suspected that Rodel, who worked in a nearby fishpond, was infatuated with his daughter Jaramie, 14.

According to Jaime Sr., the suspect served liquor to his sons on Monday night.

Santos said Jaramie will undergo a test to determine if she was sexually abused before she was killed.

Policemen are hot on the trail of the suspect.

Village officials reported that the massacre, the first in the Pasig, had shocked the residents.
