BALANGA CITY — The provincial government on Wednesday announced that it formally opened Tuesday in Mariveles, Bataan the 19th vaccination site in the province for vaccines against the coronavirus disease, the third in the industrial town.

The new inoculation site named 1Bataan FABakuna center is located inside the Freeport Area of Bataan. Other vaccinations sites in Mariveles are in Barangay Baseco and at the Antonio  G. Llamas Elementary School.

Albert Garcia said.

After the blessing led by Bishop Ruperto Santos, ceremonial vaccination followed and then the signing of agreement between government and the private sector that helped construct the vaccination center.

The Bataan freeport, formerly the Bataan Export Processing Zone turned-Bataan Economic Zone,  has 96 operational multi-national firms with more than 40,000 workers.

Garcia thanked administrator Emmanuel Pineda of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, Mariveles Mayor Jocelyn Castaneda, Mariveles hospital officials, provincial health office chief Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, Red Cross–Bataan and Camaya Coast.

Latest PHO report showed that of the 140 new confirmed Covid–19 cases registered in Bataan, 113 came from Mariveles.

Bataan has 11,971 confirmed cases with 1,292 active ones, 10,272 recoveries and 407 deaths.
