    CL police chief cites accomplishments

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Leon Nilo de la Cruz highlighted some of his accomplishments on Friday as he marked his 100th day in office.

    A press release from the regional police base at Camp Olivas here noted an “unprecedented increase in crime solution efficiency” since De la Cruz assumed the regional police post last Nov. 18.

    He listed the busting of illegal drugs laboratories and the arrest of Chinese suspects, as well as the rescue of a Pakitani businessman and his friend and a three-year-old child from their kidnappers.

    “On the campaign against illegal drugs, the most notable was the busting of illegal drugs laboratories at Diamond Subd., Barangay Balibago and along Gumamela St., Barangay Pampang, both in Angeles City last December 12 and the subsequent arrest of the suspects identified as Yang Hong Liang, 28 years old; Yang Liang Zao, 39 years old, and Yang Pei Zi, 34 years old, all native of Fujian, China,” the press release issued by regional police information officer Superintendent Baltazar Mamaril said.

    Mamaril also cited the the safe rescue of Yasser Irfan, 26, a Pakistani businessman from Balanga City, Bataan and a certain Ramon Becares last Jan. 9.  The suspects, identified as Sesando Martin, Gallardo Martin and Nestor Juliano, were later arrested by the Bataan  police amid their demand for a P5 million ransom.

    Also cited as a major accomplishment under De la Cruz’s leadership was the rescue of a three-year-old daughter of the assistant manager of Doll House restaurant in Angeles City. The girl was kidnapped last Nov. 18 and was later rescued from suspect Eva Morales, 42 ,  a native of Butuan City.

    In anti-insurgency, Mamaril cited De la Cruz for a series of operations that resulted to the arrest of Jayson Magtanong 20, an alleged active member of the Marxista Leninista Partido ng Pilipinas in Abucay, Bataan and the killing of suspected New People’s Army leader  Ariel Jimenez, 40, in San Antonio, Lubao, Pampanga, who was allegedly facing several murder and harassment charges in Pampanga.

    In the first 100 days of De la Cruz, three carnappers were also killed in a firefight in Malolos City and Sta. Maria in Bulacan, Mamaril said.

    Mamaril also credited De la Cruz for the arrests of Central Luzon’s most wanted persons, including  Leopoldo Pelayo of  Candaba, Pampanga; Erwin Binuya, 31, of  Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, ;Arvin Yasay, 34 of  San Jose City, Nueva Ecija; Virgilio Domingo, 40, of  Quezon, Nueva Ecija; Laureana Tobias of Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija ; Ganie Alejandro, 33, of  Sta Ignacia, Tarlac; Miguelito Bauto, 40, of Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija and Enrique Sibastian, 72, of  Llanera, Nueva Ecija . Most of them were wanted for murder, the others for carnappind and homicide and all were not entitled to bail.
