SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ — Yup, in stalks and grains of a paddy – behold the beautiful face of PHL’s Pop Royalty.
It’s not all R&D on the country’s staple food happening at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Future Rice Farm. There’s the Sarah Geronimo Rice Paddy.
Rice Paddy Art, aimed at promoting rice farming and support to farmers, has been an annual tourism attraction, especially for rice enthusiasts, inside PhilRice at Barangay Maligaya here.
The place is closed to visitors this time, however, due to the enhanced community quarantine, according to farm officials.
“Upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa pansamantala po munang nakasara ang farm para sa mga bisita. Mag-ingat po tayo, mga kababayan,” Future Rice Farm announced in social media.
And segued: “Dahil #StayAtHome muna tayo, dito nalang muna natin bisitahin ang Sarah Geronimo Rice Paddy Art.“
Several celebrities were featured in the said farm in the past, including the late Filipino movie action king Fernando Poe Jr.
Many netizens, especially Sarah G’s fans, can’t help but send digital applause even as they expressed regret that they could not pose for photo ops with the image of their idol in the rice paddy.
